About Us
sineQN is led by Gavan Mackenzie and Mark Ruff, both having a strong work ethic and striving to contribute to the evolution of the data centre sector and the environments in which they are located. Key to their management philosophy is enabling the sineQN team to build a culture that achieves the progress we all want to see, while realising personal goals and having fun at the same time!
The value of Gavan and Mark’s involvement is around enabling investors, owners and stakeholders to create optimal development solutions that deliver attractive returns on investment. Gavan originally trained as a Building Surveyor having obtained a BSc from Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University) and then elected to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1991. After several years consulting in private practice, followed by a 7-year stint with Morgan Stanley and then JP Morgan Chase, Gavan founded sineQN in 2007.
Gavan’s project delivery experience in the real estate and infrastructure sectors stretches from projects in Madrid to Mumbai and Glasgow to Cape Town – and many places in between. With a unique team and world-wide network within the sector, Gavan has evolved the sineQN business from a delivery solution to an asset creator.
Mark is a highly skilled engineer and has extensive experience spanning sectors including data centres, nuclear power stations, automotive, and logistics. Mark obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University) and also an MBA from De Montfort University. He brings a depth of data centre technical design expertise together with industrial real estate development knowledge and experience. Mark was the Development Director at Bulk Eindom and was responsible for the master planning and Phase One deployment of an 800-acre data centre campus in Norway. Prior to this Mark was Development Director for GSE, a construction company specialising in bespoke logistics buildings. Mark’s technical expertise and collaborative approach means that he is well placed to bring both innovation to projects and to lead design, construction and technical delivery teams.
